If a drop of water enters the soil
at a particular angle, with a particular pitch,
what's to say a man can't ride one note
into the earth like a fireman's pole?
A two-time Pulitzer Prize nominee and a MacArthur “genius” award winner, Sarah Ruhl uses her wit and gift for lyrical theatricality to create a modern take on the Greek myth of Orpheus.
As told through the eyes of its heroine, Eurydice undergoes a journey across the chasm of life and death and, once reunited with her father in the Underworld, must decide whether or not to return to the land of the living! The play explores the life circle of love, memory of experiences, and the world of the afterlife in a highly evocative and theatrical style that is both entertaining and challenging. Eurydice offers the audience something more than the original myth. It gives us the opportunity to reflect on relationships, memories, comfort, loss, and grief.
