Meet the company of Desdemona & The Zoo Story:Amy Agostino

Amy Agostino (Emilia) is thrilled to be making her tKAPOW debut in Desdemona. Recent favorite roles include Susie Monahan in W;t and Charlotte Wallace in Beyond Therapy (both with Milford Area Players); you can also find her singing with Voices of Hope Boston as well as dabbling in musical theatre. Never in her life has Amy been more grateful for modern conveniences like automatic washers and dryers.

 

 

Carey CahoonCarey Cahoon (Desdemona) was seen last on stage with tKAPOW as Teresa in Circle Mirror Transformation. Other favorite roles include Antigone in The Burial at Thebes, Cassandra in Agamemnon, Julie in Miss Julie, Rita in Educating Rita, Hedda Tesman in Hedda Gabler, and Jessie in ‘night, Mother. Carey has also performed and directed with Boston Playwright’s Platform, Stage One Productions, the Palace Theatre, and the Anselmian Abbey Players. She holds a BA in Classics from St. Anselm College, and trained at the Atlantic Acting School and with SITI Company,thanks to support from the NH State Council on the Arts.

Rachael Chapin LongoRachael Chapin Longo (Bianca) is a graduate of Skidmore College where she received her BS in Theater in 2000 and New York University where she earned her MA degree in Educational Theatre in 2005. Her NYC acting credits include A NIGHT OF PAULA VOGEL at The Producers Club and ANYTHING FOR YOU for the Creative Acting Company. Over the years, Rachael has worked as a producer, director, make-up artist and choreographer for many stage productions. Since graduating from NYU, Rachael has dedicated herself to Educational Theatre and has worked as a professional teaching artist and education director; creating curriculum and teaching classes in acting, directing, playwriting, Viewpoints technique and movement.  Her directing credits include THE WIZARD OF OZ, THE LARAMIE PROJECT, WEST SIDE STORY and THE TEMPEST. Rachael has spent the year working on the faculty of the Theatre Department at Phillips Academy creating an original play with high school students. She is also an acting professor at Merrimack College. She previously performed with Theatre KAPOW in PERCHANCE and BURIAL AT THEBES.

Wanda StrukusWanda Strukus (Director, Desdemona) is thrilled to be working with theatre KAPOW again after the whirlwind-y excitement of the 24-Hour Play Festival. Other recent projects include choreographing The Threepenny Opera for the New Center Stage (Yellow Springs, OH) and co-producing and curating the award-winning Dance in the Fells, a festival of site-specific dance in the woods of Eastern Massachusetts. Her site-specific work has been seen in theaters, art galleries, parks, abandoned buildings, and universities throughout New England, and she currently teaches dance and composition at Clark University. She is an alumna of the Jacob’s Pillow Choreographer/Director Lab, and performs with Daniel McCusker Dance Projects.

Wayne AsburyWayne Asbury (Jerry) was seen last on stage with tKAPOW as Quinn in Penelope and Bradley in Buried Child. Past credits include: Brick, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof; Henry, Mud; Slim, Cowboy Mouth; Provost, Measure for Measure; Martin, The Goat or Who is Sylvia? and Claudius, Hamlet. Great thanks to the talented cast and crew of Penelope and, as always, love to his beautiful family... Kimberly, Benjamin and Madeleine.

 


Peter JosephsonPeter Josephson (Dunne) is in his fourth season with tKAPOW, where he has acted in productions of Hedda Gabler, Agamemnon, A Dream Play, and The Burial at Thebes.  He is a four-time New Hampshire Theatre Award nominee, most recently for his performances in KAPOW's productions of The Illusion and Buried Child.  Peter has also appeared with the New Hampshire Theatre Project (Seascape, Lysistrata, Amadeus, Twelfth Night, Six Characters in Search of An Author), Ghostlight Theatre (Titus Andronicus, Waiting for Godot), and with ACTONE, Seven Stages Shakespeare, and others.  Peter performs in KAPOW's retreat performances in Dunbarton, and he helps to lead KAPOW’s open training sessions.  He is a member of the Michael Chekhov Association.

Matt CahoonMatt Cahoon (Director, The Zoo Story) is one of the co-founders of theatre KAPOW, and has directed many productions for the company including: AgamemnonA Dream Play,Buried ChildThe Burial at Thebes, and the February production of Penelope. Matt has worked with many other companies including the Boston Playwrights' Platform, The Actors' Theatre of Columbus (OH), Yellow Taxi Productions, and the Palace Theatre.  He currently serves on the boards of the Arts Presenters of Northern New England and the Greater Derry Arts Council. Matt holds a Masters in Arts Administration from Goucher College and his theatre training includes work with Double Edge Theatre Company, SITI Company, the New England Center for Circus Arts, and Range of Motion Arts. In July, Matt attended the 14th Annual International Symposium for Directors at LaMaMa Umbria in Spoleto, Italy where he had the opportunity to study under world renowned theatre artists including Academy Award-winning actress and director Estelle Parsons. Matt is the Director of the Stockbridge Theatre in Derry.  In 2011, Matt was named to the New Hampshire Union Leader’s “40 Under Forty” program. 

Bob Haas (Fight Director) trained with the Society of American Fight Directors for 13 years, and has taught and choreographed stage combat for professional and community theater for about 15 years.

Rob Kilburn (Stage Manager) is happy to be back with tKAPOW after working on the 24-hour theater festival last fall, managing props and as run crew.  Other recent projects include ASM for the 2nd Annual Dance for Peace at the Kate in Old Saybrook CT, and ASM for Dance in the Fells- Wrights Pond with Two Roads Performance Projects in the summer of '13.  Rob is very excited to be stage managing Desdemona

Nat Ward (Sound Designer) is a consulting artist who greatly enjoys all the challenges and opportunities provided to him through tKAPOW.  Previous collaborations with the company include The Illusion, Buried Child, Perchance: An Exploration of Dreams, and Penalope. He lives locally with his wife and best friend Anja. @GIANstudios for info on upcoming projects.

Tayva Young (Lighting Designer) began her adventures with KAPOW three years ago with Agamemnon and has been with them ever since. She is thrilled to again be able to participate in the season: AWAKE. There will be new adventures and new challenges keeping everyone on their toes. It is a joy to be working with everyone involved with KAPOW and could not have asked for a more talented, supportive and imaginative group of people to work with.
